MAT Renewal

The MAT program offers a free online renewal test, available 24 hours a day.

To access your MAT Renewal Exam you will need to sign into your ECETP account and proceed to My Activities > MAT. You will scroll down to the most recent registration and under the Status column will be a blue link to Proceed to start exam.

“For First and Second Renewal the exam is open 3 months prior to your expiration date, if this is your Third Renewal it will be available 6 months prior and you will need to schedule an in person Skills Competency with a MAT Trainer before your expiration in addition to the exam.”

Once you pass the online renewal test, your renewal certificate allows you to administer medication for another three (3) years. It is very important that you keep your mailing address and email address up to date in your ECETP account during the three-year period.

More instructions are available at What is MAT?. (Select How can MAT Certificate be renewed? > Renew via online Certificate Renewal Test.)

If you prefer not to renew online, you may renew your MAT certificate by completing the MAT classroom course or MAT Independent Study before your certificate expiration date. If your MAT certificate lapses, you must complete the MAT classroom course or MAT Independent Study. Visit our Find Training page to find a MAT training near you.

If you complete the MAT classroom course or MAT Independent Study, you may be eligible for a MAT Scholarship. Visit our MAT Scholarship page for details.

If you have any questions regarding the MAT certification renewal process, please email us at mat@albany.edu or call 800-295-9616
